11th Nov: Pinewood Derby

The Pinewood Derby is back for another year of fun – it is our only group event in the year, so please come an support it. It has always been a fantastic event – racing cars, BBQ, bouncy castle, raffles, tombola, games and most importantly, lots of prizes!

Cars are available from the leaders for £6 at the end of the evening meetings – we’ve got limited stock (flown in from America!) so once they’ve gone, they’ve gone!

Cub Bike Camp!

Our Cubs had a fabulous weekend indoor Camp at Wilverley in the New Forest. On Saturday morning we biked to Burley on a perilous quest for Fudge, Ice Cream and Sweets. Later on we explored the woods, played “Capture the Hill” and chilled out to a Movie. To cap all that we went to Splashdown in Poole on Sunday.

I’d like to say a massive THANK YOU to all the people who gave up their time over the weekend to make sure that the Cubs had a great time 🙂

Paralympian Night!

Our Cubs really enjoyed hearing Christine Blackmore’s Paralympian memories from the Barcelona Summer Games and the Albertville Winter Games. We heard some great stories and the Cubs asked some great questions – thanks very much to Christine!

Beaver plus Guinea Pig

The Highfield Beaver Scouts paid a visit to Pets at Home. Beaver Leader Lorraine reports…

The kids had a really great time they all got to hold and stroke some of the animals. The lady that showed us around was excellent and I was so proud of the way all our Beavers sat there and listened

Scout Summer Camp 2012

The scout troop headed off to Devon for a week’s camp this summer – we surfed, climbed, go-karted, hiked and much more! Check out the photos below.

Group Swimming Champs Again!

It was a night of titanic swimming battles at the Southampton City District Gala yesterday. Our Scouts were narrowly beaten by the 11th Scouts. Our Cubs were narrowly beaten by the 22nd Cubs. Our leading Beaver Swimmer was narrowly beaten into second place in the Beavers final. But consistently good performances by all our Highfield competitors meant that we claimed the coveted overall Group Swimming Trophy for the fourth year in a row!

Here’s some more photos.

Beaver Firemen!

Our Beavers visited St Mary’s fire station, where they all had the chance to look around the station, sit in an engine and play with a fire hose!! They also learnt what to do if there’s a fire in your home and how to make an emergency 999 call. Hopefully all the children have taken away some valuable life skills from our visit. By Monsoon.
