Gala Glory!

On a fantastic night for the Highfield Scout Group, our Beaver Scout Team mounted their strongest challenge in the history of the Southampton City Swimming competition, with 7 determined and enthusiastic swimmers and with a Highfield Beaver finishing in First and Third place in the Final.

The Cub Scout team, narrowly beaten last year, stormed back to win the Trophy in 2012, taking 1st place in the over 9.5 freestyle race, 1st and 2nd place in the Breaststroke, 1st and 2nd place in the Backstroke and winning the over 9.5 relay by almost a length of the Quays swimming pool.

Many congratulations to all our swimmers and thank you to our friends and families for their enthusiastic and energising support 🙂

A Shoebox of Goodies!

The Beavers enjoyed wrapping up the shoe boxes and filling them with goodies. (The contents of the shoeboxes were donated by the parents.)

Some of the children had raised money by gaining sponsorship for completing the Great South run. £10 was donated online and an additional £35.50 was sent off to The Samaritians Purse, Christmas Appeal.

Cub Bike Camp!

Our Cubs had a fabulous weekend indoor Camp at Wilverley in the New Forest. On Saturday morning we biked to Burley on a perilous quest for Fudge, Ice Cream and Sweets. Later on we explored the woods, played “Capture the Hill” and chilled out to a Movie. To cap all that we went to Splashdown in Poole on Sunday.

I’d like to say a massive THANK YOU to all the people who gave up their time over the weekend to make sure that the Cubs had a great time 🙂

Paralympian Night!

Our Cubs really enjoyed hearing Christine Blackmore’s Paralympian memories from the Barcelona Summer Games and the Albertville Winter Games. We heard some great stories and the Cubs asked some great questions – thanks very much to Christine!

Beaver plus Guinea Pig

The Highfield Beaver Scouts paid a visit to Pets at Home. Beaver Leader Lorraine reports…

The kids had a really great time they all got to hold and stroke some of the animals. The lady that showed us around was excellent and I was so proud of the way all our Beavers sat there and listened
