You may have heard of the tragic death of two firemen in Southampton this week. On the right in this photo is Alan Bannon who was a member of the 14th Southampton Scout Group for many years. We send our condolences to his family.
Former Scout Leader, Peter Knight, comments: Alan came up from Cubs through to Venture Scouts and was always particularly keen on outdoor activites, backwoods and climbing. In Scouts he was a Patrol Leader and achieved the Chief Scout’s Award. He became a keen caver when in the Venture Scouts. He was always ready to help others with adventurous activities, whether it was from the top of an abseiling tower or halfway up a Scottish mountain.
